Kongolese Dance Workshop with Funmi and Fumu

We are so excited to announce a six weeks Kongolese dance series coming Sept 22 from 7 to 9 on Fridays @greenemomentsstudio!

Fumu Jahmez is multidisciplinary artist hailing from DR Congo. He is a dancer, singer, poet, song writer and more. His gospel influenced voice unites the traditional African rhythms with contemporary sound of today. His passion for dance brings the fire to the stage.

Funmilayo, Artistic Director of Fusha Dance Company is a multidisciplinary artist who has been teaching Kongolese dance for over 20 years in New York.  Through deep breathing, mindful meditation we journey deep into the core setting intentions and manifesting connecting to mind body and soul through this our medicine dance from Kongo. Dances are from the Bacongo people and most chants are sung in the language of kikongo. Come and experience this joyful, sensual, spiritual African Dance

This workshop series will end with an Afrobeats dance party. Dancers will be able to perform an original choreography and dances learned by Funmi and Fumu.
